Fondo Frenzy! Park Bikes/Check Bags 9/29
Tamar amid a sea of bikes 342_0
We need you!

Levi Leipheimer's GranFondo draws 7,500 riders from all over the world, and Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition is proud to provide valet bicycle parking and bag check services for this fantastic event.

The Fondo is a big deal for Sonoma County; it's also a big deal for SCBC! We will be rolling out the red carpet -- literally! -- this year to provide excellent service to everyone who parks/checks with us.

With so many participants, the Fondo is easily our most demanding bike valet event of the year. In fact, we need to fill more than 200 volunteer shifts to make it happen.

We need your help!

All volunteers get: food on the day they work, a GranFondo t-shirt, and an invitation to the GranFondo volunteer party. In addition, bike valet/bag check volunteers are invited to Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition's volunteer appreciation party in December.

Please review the shift list below and sign up for as many shifts as you can. Ask your friends and co-workers to join you. Organize a team from your church, office, book club, class, etc. We need all hands on deck!

Bike Valet On Saturday, September 29th:
5:00-9:00 a.m. -- 15 volunteers
9:00-1:00: 30 volunteers
1:00-5:00: 40 volunteers
5:00 – 8:00: 40 volunteers

Bag Check On Saturday, September 29th:
5:00-9:00 a.m -- 40 volunteers
9:00-1:00: 15 volunteers
1:00-5:00: 15 volunteers
5:00 – 8:00: 15 volunteers

You must sign up for your shifts through the GranFondo's volunteer registration program: http://www.levisgranfondo.com/volunteer

Donate in support of SCBC's "Vulnerable Road User Protection Ordinance"

On August 31st, SCBC launched a campaign to protect you, your friends, and your family from being harassed when you're biking and walking in Sonoma County. Since then, the Vulnerable Road User Protection ordinance has been making headlines, and has elicited early support from community leaders and the Press Democrat.

Read the Press Democrat coverage of our campaign launch, including comments from Supervisor Shirlee Zane, Santa Rosa Police Chief Tom Schwedhelm, and Sonoma County District Attorney Jill Ravitch.

This support is a big boost to SCBC's efforts to protect you when you're riding your bike. SCBC staff working hard to help Sonoma County and each of its cities to both send a strong message that harassing people who are walking and biking is not tolerated, and to make it easier for people who are harassed to take action.

Please support the "Protect Us All" campaign with a tax-deductible contribution today.

Together, we'll make this happen!
