Bring your friends and ride with Supervisor Zane and the "Biker Chicks" on Sunday!
bicycle_woman_rider

According to Sonoma County Transportation Authority 2011 bicycle counts, only 22% of bicycle riders in our fair County are women. That's why Supervisor Shirlee Zane became inspired to partner with SCBC to launch "Biker Chicks."

Meanwhile, 46% of SCBC members are women.

Using the time-tested discipline of deductive reasoning, we conclude the following:

While women account for fewer than 1/4 of riders in Sonoma County, those who do ride have exceptionally good taste, and know how to connect with the BEST resources, people, and organizations. That means they have the ability to inspire their friends to ride!

So, to you wise and resourceful women... help connect your girlfriends to the many pleasures of bicycling... bring them to "Biker Chicks" this Sunday, April 15th.

Join Supervisor Shirlee Zane, Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition, Sonoma County Regional Parks Foundation, and HillJillys Women's Bike Club for a fun and inclusive, come-as-you-are pedal.

Details:
Meet: 1:45 p.m. in Santa Rosa at Prince Gateway Park next to the big fish (Santa Rosa Ave at Sonoma Ave)

Ride:
We'll ride the Joe Rodota Trail to Sebastopol with a break at Coffee Catz/West County Revolution Bike Shop. At 4:00, we'll depart Sebastopol and ride back to Santa Rosa the same way we came. This ride takes place entirely on the (paved) trail -- no road riding at all.

Mechanics:
Biker Chicks Michelle, Kylie, and Christine will be available to help you should you get a flat tire or experience any other mechanical issue. We're riding worry-free!

Wear/Bring:
Wear comfortable clothes for riding (bring leg straps or roll up your pant legs to avoid having them get caught in your chain). A bicycle helmet is required for everyone under 18, recommended for all riders. Bring at a spare innertube that fits your tires (take your tire to a bike shop and they'll help you get the right size), at least one full water bottle (you will be able to refill in Sebastopol), your ID, money for a snack (Coffee Catz is cash/check only, but has an ATM).

After the Ride:
Some of us will go to Third Street Aleworks after the ride for a refreshment. Please email Sandra@Bikesonoma.org if you'd like to attend so a table can be reserved.

Any questions email Sandra@BikeSonoma.org (and if you haven't registered for the ride, send Sandra an email to let her know you're coming).

Looking forward to seeing you out there on Sunday!
