Great Win for Bicycling in the US Senate!
Thanks for your calls and emails

Our efforts have paid off!

Members and friends of Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition, your calls and emails to your Senators have made a real difference! The Senate has included the Cardin-Cochran amendment to its transportation bill, MAP-21.

Three cheers!

Thank you so much for your part in achieving this victory. We hope this win will be the first of several that we'll need to restore critical bicycle/pedestrian funding at the federal level.

We'll need to keep the pressure on the Senate to get them to pass MAP-21, and we'll keep you up to date. Meanwhile, visit our website for a full update and information about how to take action now to than our Senators for voting for the amendment.

Climate Meet & Greet April 4th

Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition is thrilled to once again be a part of Climate Ride California. 2012 Team Captain, SCBC Executive Director, Gary Helfrich, urges you to join Team BikeSonoma today! The Climate Ride is the ride of a lifetime, so register and ride with us.

Want to learn more before you sign up? Join the 2012 and members of the 2011 Team on Tuesday, April 4th at 5:30pm for a free, Climate Ride Team BikeSonoma meet & greet reception. We’ll answer your questions, show you some inspiring pictures, and help you get ready to ride. Beer and snacks will be available at the event at the Share Exchange, 531 5th Street, Santa Rosa.

The Climate Ride is a rare opportunity for Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition to partner with members of the community like you to raise unrestricted, general operating funds. Proceeds from the Climate Ride will support, in part, SCBC's upcoming "Just Ride!" community-based, fun bike rides program. They also support SCBC's role in the movement to improve conditions for cycling in Sonoma County (bike lanes, trails, better road surfaces, and more).

Our goal this year is for Team BikeSonoma to be 12 members strong and to raise at least $30,000. We encourage you to ride with us -- you won't be sorry.

SMART Groundbreaking: A Great Day!

Some 400 people turned up at the Petaluma Depot on Friday, February 24th
to celebrate SMART's official groundbreaking. It was a festive occasion attended by people who've been working hard for many years to make the SMART Train & Pathway a reality.

SCBC was honored to receive special recognition (along with our friends at Marin County Bicycle Coalition) for the bicycle community's long time support of the project.

Thanks to SMART, SCBC provided valet bike parking at the event; our bike parking staff was happy to be kept busy -- lots of people rode!

SCBC continues to work with SMART directly as the agency moves forward with construction. We're looking forward to seeing many segments of the multi-use pathway in place in the coming couple of years.
