Tuesday night in Healdsburg!

February 19th at 6:00 p.m. Come out in support of the Vulnerable User Protection Ordinance.

Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition is scheduled to present our proposed "Vulnerable User Protection Ordinance" to the Healdsburg City Council on Tuesday, February 19th at 6:00 p.m. The presentation represents Healdsburg taking the first step toward considering additional protections for people riding bikes and walking in the north Sonoma County city.

Healdsburg is a key hub for bicycling in Sonoma County, for both local riders and tourists. Many people also enjoy Downtown Healdsburg by foot. As such, it is particularly critical for Healdsburg to protect vulnerable users.

The February 19th meeting is a presentation only; the City Council will not vote or take action on the ordinance. Now is a great time to email each Healdsburg City Council member to let them know how important the Vulnerable User Protection Ordinance is to you.

Mayor Susan Jones
Vice Mayor Jim Wood
Councilmember Tom Chambers
Councilmember Gary Plass
Councilmember Shaun McCaffrey

If you live, work, ride, or walk in Healdsburg, please plan to attend the meeting. If you wish to speak about what the ordinance means to you, please be prepared to do so. Or, you may show up and sport an orange "Protect Us All" sticker to show your support. RSVP to Sandra@BikeSonoma.org to let us know you'll attend.

Will Healdsburg be the next jurisdiction to adopt the Vulnerable User Protection Ordinance? You can help make it happen!

Hear an Update on the SMART Pathway: Wednesday, February 20th

_J5V7411
There's plenty of information out there about the status of the rail portion of the SMART train and pathway project, but have you tried to find out about the status of pathway? Not so easy, is it?

In both private and public meetings in recent months, Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition (with our Marin County counterparts) has called upon SMART to provide more information about how the pathway is coming along.

In response to our demands for information, SMART staff will present to the SMART board a status report on the pathway at the following time/place:

Wednesday, February 20th, 1:30 p.m.
SMART Board of Directors Meeting
SMART office
5401 Old Redwood Highway, Petaluma

SCBC staff will be there to hear the report -- please join us! We want SMART to know that the bicycle community remains interested in the prioritized completion of the multi-use Pathway.

Here's a link to the meeting agenda. http://www2.sonomamarintrain.org/userfiles/file/Final%20Agenda%20Packet%202-20-13.pdf

The item is close to the beginning of the agenda, so please arrive close to on-time. Email Sandra@BikeSonoma.org to let us know you'll be there.
