PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

HOME VISIT AND MEETING FORMS

In order to comply with our auditing standards, we are now requiring all active CASA volunteers to use a standard home visit report when attending home visits and a meeting form for all meetings related to your case.  You will receive these templates via email from your CASA supervisor.

Home visit reports are due monthly
to your CASA supervisor as an e-mail attachment in this standard form.  Please also e-mail meeting forms to your supervisor as meetings arise so we have a record for our file.

If you have any questions, please contact Program Supervisor, Cynthia Mason: cynthia.mason@casaphiladelphia.org

CASA AT THE PHILLIES WITH TICKETS FOR KIDS CHARITIES

Thank You

tix for kids

Special thanks to our partner agency “Tickets for Kids” who donated four tickets to the April 18th Phillies baseball game. CASA volunteer Jonathan Smolowe and his CASA youth J.P, as well as J.Ps friend and a group home supervisor were able to enjoy a day at the game.  This was J.P.s first experience at a baseball game. The weather was perfect and a great time was had by all!

If you think you might be interested in accompanying your youth to an upcoming Phillies game, please contact Cindy Blum at: cindy.blum@casaphiladelphia.org as soon as possible.  Tickets are going fast!

The following dates are still available:  6/6, 8/4, 8/20, 9/4.

Kids cannot be transported by volunteers, but must be chaperoned by their CASA volunteer, so you will meet at the stadium. There is a limit of 1 extra ticket for a child/friend/sibling in the child's life to take as a guest.

I AM FOR THE CHILD CAMPAIGN: THANK YOU

Thanks to everyone for your support during National Child Abuse Prevention Month! Every year we create community awareness about the great work CASA volunteers do on behalf of abused and neglected children in Philadelphia. Thank you to everyone for your photo submissions for the I Am for the Child campaign. It was a great way to show your support of CASA Philadelphia and its mission to advocate for abused and neglected children in the foster care system. We are always looking for opportunities to share CASA's mission, recruit volunteers and encourage people to support our work. Check out CASA’s Facebook page to see all of the IAFTC supporters.

UPDATE: PHOTOS FOR NEW CASA PHOTO ID BADGES

Thank you so much for sending us jpeg photos for your CASA ID badges and for your patience as we distribute them.  We have decided to work with a new company to create the badges, so please bear with us if you have not yet received yours, as we are still in the process of setting up our account with them.

Please continue to e-mail your jpeg headshot photos to Cindy Blum at: cindy.blum@casaphiladelphia.org  and we will be in touch with you when the badges are available.

OLDER YOUTH VIDEO

For those of you working with older youth who are getting closer to the date when they could potentially age out of the dependency system, there are many issues to discuss, like exploring the ways youth can remain in care. The following brief video (5 minutes) from the Juvenile Law Center (JLC) explains Pennsylvania’s Act 91 with clear details about extending and re-entering foster care. Please view it yourself and then show it to your older youth so they can start thinking about their options:
