While the winds and flooding of Hurricane Harvey have now moved out of Texas the devastation to families across the hard-hit area is just being tabulated. People have lost their homes, automobiles and virtually all their possessions, saving only the clothes on their backs.
Nowhere is this loss being felt more deeply than with our correctional brothers and sisters throughout the devastated area. Many of these staff devotedly remained on duty securing and protecting the offenders in their care, while their own families dealt with the destruction brought on by Hurricane Harvey.
As these professionals and their loved ones begin to put their lives back together GreenPrisons wants to join with other members of the correctional community to assist our brothers and sisters in getting back on their feet.
GreenPrisons has learned of two organizations who have their relief efforts specifically focused on correctional workers and their families. GreenPrisons has donated to both organizations and we ask you to consider doing the same. Our corporate members are particularly encouraged to join this effort and give back to our community in a meaningful way.
