Antenna facilitates a new era of 3D audio guides at the Louvre
Antenna International™ is proud to continue its long-standing partnership with the Louvre through facilitation and on-site management of a new era of handheld digital interpretation. The Audioguide Louvre – Nintendo 3DS, made available to the public in April, provides visitors to the world’s most visited museum with a tool to deepen their knowledge of art and culture in a fun and interactive way.
The new guide uses content produced by Antenna for the Louvre’s previous multimedia guide and has been enhanced to take advantage of the features of the Nintendo 3DS system including 3D images and animation and an interactive map that allows visitors to see exactly where they are in the museum. It also offers over 700 commentaries on the works of art and tells the story behind the building itself. The versatile guide can be tailored to individual tastes and brings the artworks to life, thanks to commentaries from the museum’s curators and lecturers.
Antenna has worked closely with Nintendo to facilitate the launch and has also designed and developed bespoke mass charging racks to support the 5,000 3DS devices maintained on-site as well as providing general consultancy for the project logistics and operations. The Louvre chose to retain Antenna’s unrivalled on-site operations service managing the guide’s distribution to the museum’s 15,000 visitors per day along with the complex day-to-day operations and logistics. The Audioguide Louvre – Nintendo 3DS is available in seven languages with a French sign language version coming soon.

Rome’s spectacular treasures now experienced on XP-Iris™
Antenna International™ is delighted to announce that it has won the major tender to be the exclusive provider of audio tour services for Civici Roma. This includes some of the most iconic buildings in the eternal city: the Musei Capitolini that is both the world’s oldest public museum and home to the iconic equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius; the Mercati di Traiano Museo dei Fori Imperiali – with more than 40,000 objects from the original Forum; the Ara Pacis peace altar from 9BC; the Museo Barracco; the Museo Napoleonico – containing the great collection of Napoleonic art, the Musei di Villa Torlonia and the Museo di Roma.
From winning the bid to serving the first visitor was a period of less than three weeks. It is a great testament to Antenna’s resources, operational efficiencies and global support that enabled hundreds of devices to be delivered, installed and ready to serve the first visitor on time and within budget - a process that would usually take six months!
Antenna won the tender with its new XP-Iris™ audio and multimedia tour handset. In the short time the player has been available to clients, it has already made quite an impact on the interpretation world. With its unique blend of keypad and touchscreen technology – combined with the reliability and robustness that is always associated with Antenna’s products – it is poised to push the boundaries of interpretation further than ever before, expanding the possibilities of what visitors can do and experience in front of an object.
