What a beautiful Wallowa County summer! Between rodeos, weeding the garden, and barbeques, join us at one of the land trust's remaining summer events.

Thursday August 4 — Moraines of Wallowa Lake. 7pm at Stage One (117 1/2 East Main Street) in Enterprise.
Expert geologist Dr. Ellen Morris Bishop will captivate you with the geologic history of the Wallowa Mountains and Wallowa Lake’s world-class moraines, complete with stunning photographs and anecdotes.

Saturday August 6 — East Moraine of Wallowa Lake: Geologic Marvel. Meet at WLT's office (116 S. River Street) in Enterprise at 9am.
Experience the Wallowa Lake Moraines with geologist Dr. Ellen Morris Bishop and renowned photographer David Jensen (co-founder and board member, Wallowa Land Trust). This hike will emphasize the geology, natural history, and cultural values of the moraines, as well as local efforts to protect this iconic landscape from development.

Saturday August 13 — Exploring Wallowa Lake State Recreation Area. Meet at the Wallowa Lake State Park campground flagpole at 9am
Take a walk through the woods to the head of Wallowa Lake where Cameron Albee, Fisheries Research Biologist for the Nez Perce Tribe, will explain some of the cultural and biological resources of the Wallowa Lake Basin.

Saturday August 20 — Zumwalt Prairie Preserve. Meet at TNC’s office (906 South River Street, across from Grain Growers) in Enterprise at 8am
Join The Nature Conservancy in a short traverse over the Zumwalt Prairie, the largest remaining grassland of its kind in the country. Watch countless the raptors soaring overhead and seek out elk on the horizon as TNC staff share the story of protecting this special place.

WolfeSunday August 28 — SPECIAL Confluence of Lostine & Wallowa Rivers Outing AND Picnic Celebration on Wolfe Ranch
Meet at the Wolfe Ranch hay barn. From Lostine, travel west on Highway 82 toward Wallowa. After you pass Baker Road, turn right into the driveway at the farm outbuildings just before the road bends. 
1pm: Join WLT staff, the Wolfe family, and local experts to celebrate the completion of a conservation easement on the Woody Wolfe Ranch, including a rare opportunity to see the confluence of two major rivers in the valley (Lostine and Wallowa) which was a traditional Nez Perce summer camp.
3pm: Potluck picnic barbeque.

Saturday September 3 — West Moraine of Wallowa Lake: Top of the World! Meet at WLT's office at 9am.
Hike the beautiful West Moraine of Wallowa Lake with naturalist Kendrick Moholt who will lead you to the crest for stunning views. Learn about the natural history of the Moraine and the development pressures it now faces, as well as local efforts to ensure its protection.
