Continuing Dr. Jack McConnell's Legacy

We continue to mourn the loss of our beloved founder, Dr. Jack McConnell.  Dr. McConnell lived an extraordinary life. The son of a preacher in Appalachia, he grew up knowing the value of neighbor helping neighbor. His family did not have much money, but that did not stop him from fulfilling his childhood dream of completing medical school. Read more...

VIM Welcomes New Board Member

The Volunteers in Medicine national office is pleased to welcome Barbara Walker to the board of directors.  Barbara is a clinical health psychologist who has been treating patients, teaching, and doing research in health psychology for over 30 years. Her primary focus has been on chronic disease management and models of integrated care.  

She received her Ph.D. from Ohio State University and spent over 20 years in the Brown University School of Medicine serving as Director of Behavioral Medicine.  Read more...

We are pleased to introduce the Volunteers in Medicine National Office Advisory Council.  Formation of the advisory council was an objective set forth by the VIM National Office Board in its strategic plan. 

The advisory council’s purpose is to provide input, advice and feedback to national office leadership.
