Dear Friend of VIM,

“When is our next VIM National Conference?” This is by far the top question I have been asked since starting this position one year ago. Clearly, VIM Alliance members value this event as an opportunity to be connected, inspired and reinvigorated.

I am excited to report that planning is well underway for our conference May 3-5, 2018 in Alexandria, Virginia. This summer’s survey generated an initial list of desired topics and speakers as well names of clinic representatives interested in presenting, planning, volunteering and/or receiving scholarships. Missed the survey? No problem. We welcome your input!

The VIM national office honors our commitment to access for all by providing opportunities for clinic representatives, regardless of budget, to benefit from the VIM National Conference. To this end, we are actively seeking sponsors to underwrite costs and fund scholarships.  If you have suggestions for potential sponsors, please let us know.

There is power in gathering a group of people committed to a common vision. I cannot wait to meet the VIM Alliance members who are translating that vision into action.

Executive Director

Meet “Marisol,” a newcomer to Great Barrington, who works part-time doing childcare and housekeeping. She has no health insurance. One day, Marisol’s severe asthma attack led to the hospital emergency room. She was stabilized, released and referred to Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) Berkshires for further care.

At VIM, she was treated by a member of the medical staff and was referred to dental, vision and mental health services, as well as nutrition, acupuncture and therapeutic body work. Read more...
