Transgender Awareness Week

Transgender Awareness Week (November 13 - 20, 2017)

Transgender Awareness Week will feature a series of events geared to support and highlight New Haven and Connecticut's diverse transgender community. The week of activities will begin with two incredible performances by Transgender icon Alok Vaid-Menon and continue with a series of programs that will include film screenings, social activities, awareness events, panels and workshops, and conclude with a public speak out and resource social at the New Haven Pride Center. 

Thank you so much to the individuals who came together to form the planning committe for Transgender Awareness Week, especially IV Staklo who has been an incredible leader in this year's (and previous year's) planning process.

Life and Death of Marsha P. Johnson (2017) This documentary uses never-before-seen footage and rediscovered interviews in a search for the truth behind the mysterious 1992 death of black transgender activist and Stonewall veteran Marsha P. Johnson.

En el Cuerpo Equivocado [The Wrong Body] (Cuban, 2010) tells the moving story of Mavi Susel, the first trans gender person in Cuba to receive a sex reassignment operation, in 1988.

CT Pride Hikers: Wild Turkey Hike

Join the Connecticut Pride Hikers for their November hike in the Kettle Town State Park! 

Thorsten and Rocky are cohosting this picturesque hike. The intensity is 80% easy and 20% moderate and will take about 2 hours and 15 minutes. After the hike, there will be a afterparty potluck hosted by three members of CT Pride Hikers in their home in New Haven.
