Letter from the President
Hello MBWEP!
Wow, wedding season is in full force! I hope that you are enjoying a prosperous season!
I am excited to share that we had an amazing turnout for our July Showcase at the Dream Inn. Thank you to all that showcased and put it together, lead by the talented Heidi Hughett (Showcase Director).
We are continuing to grow but we need you, our membership, to help with this endeavor. We are determined to get our first directory printed by the first of the year and therefore need a big membership push by November. Please help us by talking with all your talented, amazing event professional friends about the power of MBWEP.
I am excited to have our second General Meeting on August 10th at Sanctuary Beach Resort. Please let me know if you are featuring a new product or promotion for your business and would like to speak to the membership at this meeting. The deadline is August 5th and you will each have two minutes to present.
Finally, our membership is the key to this organization. Please let us know if you have any suggestions on how we can better serve you, or if you would like to assist with any aspect of MBWEP. Together we can make the Monterey Bay a more spectacular place to live and work!

July Showcase Recap
On July 13th we held a Showcase Event at the Dream Inn. This surfer chic hotel is right on the Beach in Santa Cruz, making it the perfect location for a special event. Aurora and the Dream Inn not only provided this ocean view location, but also some delish munchies.
The other MBWEP members who were being showcased at this event included Sound in Motion DJ and Video (Adrian Cavlan also acted as the master of ceremonies), Alexis Party Rentals, Fionna Floral, Steve Kurtz Photography and Terry Way Photography.
Alexis and Fionna provided some beautiful tables capes to inspire, while a wall size slideshow ran through the event showing off the talents of Steve Kurtz and Terry Way. Wine was poured by Bargetto Winery, a long time local favorite.
Hope to see you at the next Showcase at the Intercontinental Clement Hotel in Monterey on September 14th at 6pm.

Member Announcements
We have exciting news to share from one of our members...
Heidi Hughett of Coastside Couture (and our Showcase Chair) was just asked to be the National Event Chair for Wish Upon a Wedding!
 For those who aren't familiar with the organization, Wish Upon a Wedding is the world’s first nonprofit wish granting organization providing weddings and vow renewals for couples facing terminal illness and serious life-altering circumstances.
Heidi is planning their November Gala and would like to invite interested MBWEP members to participate through donating to the Gala or the Auction.
All proceeds raised will help grant wedding wishes for couples facing terminal illness and other serious life-altering circumstances.
Congratulations to Heidi on her new position!

August General Meeting
Our next General Meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 10th from 1:00-3:00 pm at:

We'll be meeting upstairs from the main lobby in the larger conference room. Our agenda is TBD. An invitation with details will be sent out shortly via email.

Tip from a Wedding Planner:
"A wedding or event planner is there to make the job of every vendor easier. They know the event typically better than the Client. Don't get defensive if an event planner wants your contract, it's for the good of the event and the client if the planner has every bit of information they can get prior to the wedding.
Pay attention to the timeline that an event planner sends out, ask questions and feel free to review it with them before the day of the wedding. The communication from the vendor to the planner is so important and very much appreciated!."
