Letter from the President
Hello MBWEP!
It has been fun seeing everyone at our General Meetings and Showcases! Please don’t forget that September is the last Showcase and October is the last General Meeting accessible to non-members. After October, you must be a member or invited guest to attend.
We will be putting out the MBWEP directory soon. Please encourage all who are interested in joining to do so by October so they can be included!
Our Marketing Director Mike Steelman has also been working hard to secure a booth at our first wedding show. We will keep you posted on when and where once all is finalized. Please let us know if you would like to help with designing the booth, working the show, etc.
Finally, MBWEP was founded on community and integrity in our industry. I am constantly humbled and encouraged by all of you, both in business and friendship. Not only do you do an amazing job for your clients, but you also provide tremendous support for your peers. I encourage you to keep up the hard work to set the best example for all around you.
With gratitude,
Amy Byrd

August General Meeting Recap
The August 10th General Meeting featured speakers Allan Kass & Jim Atkins from the Santa Cruz Mediation Group.
In their presentation, we learned how to better avoid and deal with conflicts, whether with clients or employees. They discussed strategic approaches to dispute resolution as well as good, protective protocol during the resolution process to protect our interests along the way.
Through discussing particular case types and the processes surrounding them, we learned how mediation could be beneficial in the wedding and event industry. They explained the mediation process and why it is such a popular and affordable way to deal with conflicts, as opposed to litigation and the court system.
To learn more about Santa Cruz Mediation Group, visit their website here.
It was another excellent, informative MBWEP general meeting that offered great benefit to our membership. There are lots more to come so keep an eye out for the next one!
