NMG’s Guide To Creating Better Banner Ads
Our thoughts on how to get the most out of your campaign:
1. Clear Messaging
Effective banners typically offer a compelling message that is connected to a unique selling proposition, have equal spacing between content, and provide a free-trial offer. The word FREE resonates well with the technology audience.
2. Call to Action
Raised buttons tend to work well and should include a clear call to action. Words such as “Click Here” and “Get Now” promote next steps. Something is better than nothing, so even offering an email address or link inside the ad can help promote clicks.
3. Optimizing File Types
Optimization is king. Creating more than one banner and testing the different file formats once the ads go live is always a good best practice. Depending on location, animation might work better than static and vice versa.
4. Clean Graphics and Use of Images
Another technique that can help promote clicks is the use of images inside the banner. Use graphics that directly correspond to your product/service or messaging.
5. File Size
A general rule of thumb is to create banners smaller in overall file size. A smaller file size tends to load quicker and can get in front of the audience faster.

Quick Note: At the end of the day, even if you have the perfect banner ad - if it's not in front of the correct audience, the performance might not be as strong. Feel free to talk to one of our reps regarding you're campaign objectives, and we'll be your guide for the best placement.
