On the eve of climate talks in Bonn, ICLEI has published an advocacy document encouraging all parties to move forward with an inclusive and ambitious approach in preparation for COP21 in Paris.

Launch of the Transformative Actions Program (TAP) application process

The Transformative Actions Program (TAP) invites cities and other subnational governments to submit their transformative climate actions before August 15th, 2015! Up to 100 projects will be selected and showcased to potential investors and national delegations at the upcoming COP21 in Paris-Le Bourget, France.

carbonn Climate Registry: 2014-2015 Digest

The carbonn Climate Registry (cCR): 2014-2015 Digest analyzes the data of over 500 cities and regions around the world. These jurisdictions are demonstrating their power and potential to reduce climate risks and to move towards global low-emissions and climate resilient development, through the reporting of energy and climate commitments, greenhouse gas emissions, and mitigation and adaptation actions.

Friends of Cities: Multi-level partnerships for scaling up local action

Friends of Cities at the UNFCCC is created as an informal network of national governments to engage in dialogues among themselves and with representatives of local and subnational governments to explore how substantial progress can be achieved in the global processes to scale-up local and subnational climate action.

High-level speakers Han Aixing (Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Beijing, China) and Franzjosef Schaffhausen (Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety, Berlin, Germany) provided insights into the trends and challenges of urbanization in China in their keynote speeches.

Compact of Mayors gains 36 new cities and towns at ICLEI World Congress

From Johannesburg, South Africa to Paris, France to Seoul, South Korea, cities around the world are demonstrating collective leadership to fight climate change. At the ICLEI World Congress 2015, these megacities and 33 other leading cities and towns intensified their commitment to climate action by pledging to comply to the Compact of Mayors.

Solutions Gateway now open to all cities!

The Solutions Gateway, an online platform on Low Carbon Solutions for Urban Development created for cities and towns, was launched at the ICLEI World Congress 2015 in April 2015. It is now available to all local governments, free of charge.

Highlights of the Urban Low Emission Development Strategies (LEDS) 2nd International Networking Seminar

From 5-7 May 2015, Urban-LEDS project cities from Indonesia, Brazil, India, South Africa and Europe, gathered in the host Bogor City, Indonesia for the 2nd Urban-LEDS International Networking Seminar (INS).
