ICLEI carbonn Center Newsletter - Ed # 3, November 2014

Why Lima's COP20 is our chance to move from vision to action

In order to facilitate the vital climate efforts at the COP20, ICLEI will once again lead the Local Government Climate Roadmap delegations in Lima, with representatives from all around the world, including Belo Horizonte, Bogota, Brussels, Durban, Nantes, Paris, Recife, Seoul, Tokyo and Tshwane.

Can't cut what you don't count: Launch of a powerful GHG protocol for cities

On Monday 8th December 2014 at the Lima City Hall, the the Global Protocol for Community-Scale Greenhouse Gas Emission Inventories (GPC) will be officially launched. The GPC is a joint initiative of ICLEI, the World Resources Institute (WRI) and C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group (C40).

Compact of Mayors launched at the UN Climate Summit 2014

The Compact of Mayors is an agreement by city networks – and then by their members – to undertake a transparent and supportive approach to reduce city-level emissions, to reduce vulnerability and to enhance resilience to climate change, in a consistent and complimentary manner to national level climate protection efforts.

Urban-LEDS Cities in Action status update published

Responding to population growth, climate change, limited global resources and the need for sustainable development, the Urban-LEDS project is a flagship international climate change mitigation project, funded by the European Union and jointly implemented by ICLEI and UN-Habitat.

Policy guide for vertically-integrated NAMAs to be released in Lima

A guidance document with policy recommendations, case studies and tools aimed at strengthening the involvement of sub-national governments in national mitigation strategies and actions will be released at the 20th UNFCCC Conference of Parties (COP20) in Lima.
