THE LATEST NEWS FROM THE LAWYERS' COMMITTEE

Happy New Year from LCCHP!
As 2012 comes to an end, the Lawyers' Committee for Cultural Heritage Preservation (LCCHP) thanks you for making it our most successful year yet! Thanks to your support, we can look back with pride on our past accomplishments as we look ahead to our future endeavors. In the upcoming year, there are many ways in which you can become involved in this important work.

2013 will be a crucial year. U.S. state and federal courts are hearing landmark cases that could set dangerous precedents for Holocaust victims seeking to recover Nazi plundered art. The U.S. Senate is considering legislation that would leave victims of theft and looting without recourse to recover their rightful property. And the illicit antiquities trade is surging alongside the world's conflicts.

Cultural heritage needs an advocate now more than ever and LCCHP is working every day to be just that.

In addition to championing preservation through the iStock_000002196621Smalljustice system, we're also preparing a new generation of advocates, and educating the general public. Next year, with DePaul University College of Law, we'll cosponsor our fourth annual Moot Court Competition. For those interested in studying cultural heritage law, we've updated our website with a guide to hundreds of courses in many related fields. And for those already immersed in the subject — who are members of LCCHP — we've provided a directory of fifty internships and externships. Finally, we're already planning our fifth annual conference, and other special events.

How You Can Help

We want you to be involved in this important work. As this year draws to a close, please consider joining LCCHP, renewing your membership, or donating to the organization. Fees and contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

If you are unable to do this, there are other ways you can support our efforts. At the very least, we invite you to join us on Facebook, where you can follow our work and the latest developments in cultural heritage law. Thank you for your help!
