Five Questions with
"The Morning After/The Night Before"
Composer Jeff Beinstock taps wild youth for FringeNYC musical

BY RUTH WEBER

What exactly happened last night? Secrets are unearthed and headaches are nursed in composer-writer Jeff Bienstock's raunchy, rollicking new musical comedy The Morning After/The Night Before.” FringeNYC Propaganda recently chatted with Bienstock about the creative impetus for his new work.

Jeff, please describe your show in one sentence. OK, two.

“The Morning After/The Night Before” is a theatrical striptease. We immediately reveal Sunday morning. It's followed by a tantalizing glimpse of Saturday evening. We save the unveiling of Saturday night for the very end of the show.

In what strange test tube was the idea for this musical born?

I can't remember exactly. It might have been as far back as ten years ago. I grew up in the small-ish city of Santa Monica, Calif., and I often woke up after a night’s worth of hazy misadventures. My friends had an equally bizarre story to tell, which often intersected with my story in unexpected ways.

Rock the FringeVOTE
All you need to know about Audience Favorite Ballots

BY ANDREA KRUSHEFSKI

Which shows had you falling out of your seat laughing or getting emotional over the characters' dilemma? FringeNYC really wants to know about the show you fell in love with!

Inside each show program there should be an “Audience Favorite Award” ballot. At the end of the festival each is counted and the show with the most votes receives the prestigious award at the closing night party on August 29, but you need to make sure your favorite show wins!

No ballot? Don’t sweat it. You can also visit the website: http://www.fringenyc.org/basic_page.php?ltr=num to cast your vote. Follow thetw  logo underneath any show’s blurb on the Slice-o-matic to fill out the same information electronically. If you already have a favorite, you can click the logo in this article to fill out the survey!

Plus, when you vote you're automatically entered to win a VIP pass for the 2011 Fringe Festival!

Voting ends Noon on August 29 so be sure to vote while you still can! Ballots can be returned to FringeCENTRAL at 1 E 8th Street (at 5th Avenue) or at any of the 18 FringeNYC venues.
