This is a beautiful blend of Zweigelt (80%) and Blaufrankisch (20%), soft and aromatic with flavors of red cherries and wild herbs. The hot summer days in southern Austria and the long cool evenings allow for wonderful ripening of the grapes and produce this powerful wine. Perfect with chicken and grilled fish.

Meinklang, owned by Werner and Angela Michlits, is an organic/biodynamic winery in Austria, region of Burgenland. The vineyards are surrounded by natural ponds and fields. Wild herbs and grasses offer a home for insects and soil organisms, which loosen and aerate the soil providing an ambient environment for healthy vines. These wild plants also compete for water and nutrients and provide gentle, stress for the vines, vital to quality grape growing.

Why are there cows on the label?

The Meinklang estate is home to over 300 head of Angus cattle. The cows are vitally important to the farm and represent a natural source of supply for fertilizer. The cow is also a symbol of fertility and is one of man’s first domesticated working animal.
