The Bike Commute Challenge is Coming

Registration for the 2010 Bike Commute Challenge opens August 5.

Build excitement about bike commuting at your workplace and answer coworkers' questions and concerns by hosting a BTA Bike Commute Workshop.

Our one-hour workshop covers laws, skills, basic gear, and basic maintenance for riding safely and comfortably to work. We most often present during lunch hour "brown bags," but are happy to come at whatever time works well for your workplace or community group.

We're scheduling workshops for August and September. Email Stephanie Noll or call 503-226-0676 x23.

Tonight: Washington County Forum for Active Transportation

What: Washington County Active Transportation Forum
Where: Vernier Software & Technology Headquarters, 13979 SW Millikan Way in Beaverton
When: Wednesday, August 4, 6:00 to 8:00 pm

Please contact Susan Peithman if you have any questions.

August 14: Trade Your Car for a Bike at the Tour de Fat

The New Belgium Tour de Fat comes to Portland's Waterfront Park on August 14 along with all the fixings: art bikes, food, costumes, parade, beer, and fun -- all wrapped up in one great event that supports the BTA's bicycle advocacy and education programs.

To top it all off, there's a chance for one lucky person to trade their car in for a custom commuter bike.  It's an honor worthy of fame, fortune, and an Alice Award nomination.
