30 Seconds with...

Stefano and Carlos 2oikos PhD Fellows

The oikos PhD Fellowship Programme was initiated in 2006 to support outstanding international PhD students writing their thesis on sustainability in economics or management and to provide them with an opportunity to engage in oikos programmes. Our two PhD Fellows, Carlos Vargas and Stefano Ramelli, tell us about their experience:

Carlos Vargas
“I am currently starting the second year of my PhD at the Institute of Banking and Finance at the University of Zurich. My involvement in oikos during 2017 has allowed me to deepen my exposure to current trends in Sustainable Finance worldwide. I believe Sustainable Finance is the present and future of Finance, and goes way beyond conventional understanding. There is so much to be done from the academic side in this topic and I hope to contribute with my part. I also run the Case Study competition at oikos and I am very excited to have launched the 2018 edition last month.”

Stefano Ramelli
“I am very pleased to be a part of oikos and the Department of Banking and Finance (DBF) at the University of Zurich. At the DBF, I am a proud member of Prof. Dr. Alexander Wagner’s team. I am broadly interested in how environmental and social considerations are integrated into the various dimensions of Corporate Finance. At oikos, I contribute to the organization of the oikos Young Scholar Finance Academy. The 2017 edition is just over, and I am already looking forward to the next one! I like what I am doing because I am convinced that if we want to make our economy more sustainable we must act on how finance is taught and researched.”
