oikos Students
Congratulations to Cornell University Sustainable Design, the student-led initiative that won our Student Award for Sustainable Campus, a joint project with the ISCN.
Sounds interesting? Great, since we have just launched our call for applications for the Student Award for Curricula Change, organised in collaboration with UN-supported Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME). Should you win this award, not only will you gain recognition for your project, but also the opportunity to participate at the PRME Summit in Rio de Janeiro 2012.
17 oikees from Bayreuth, Constance, St.Gallen and Tübingen committed to closer cooperation between the oikos Chapters around the Lake of Constance, which borders Switzerland, Austria, and Germany, travelling to Constance to learn about an innovative air-conditioning technology.
oikos Cologne is organising two BA/MA thesis development workshops
with University of Cologne faculty from a range of social science areas. You can register for the July workshop until 6 July.
oikos Graz explored the energy of the future at their annual Sustainability Day last month and oikos Dhaka organized the 2011 Style Carnival at BRAC University, promoting local sustainable and environmentally friendly products.
oikos International hosted the second Project Leadership Programme's coaching session online from 24 - 25 June, gathering 7 promising oikees from Ahmedabad, Chennai, Warsaw, Witten-Herdecke, and Zagreb, to learn about social media and managing stakeholders. The coaching was held on a virtual platform for the first time in an effort to minimize environmental impact.
oikos Academic
The oikos Academic realm is entering its hot phase this summer. Last month's Entrepreneurship Academy received great feedback from its participants. The participants' profiles of the Organisations Academy in August are online and the participants of the International Economics Academy that are currently under review are being drawn of out of pool of applications from all five continents.
Moreover, in our latest podcast, we talk to Michael V. Russo from the University of Oregon about his experience with teaching cases for sustainability, which we highly recommend to download!
Also within our Case Writing Initiative, we will organise a Case Writiting Lab hosted by Michael Pirson of Fordham University at this year's Academy of Management Conference in San Antonio, featuring leading case writers. Register for your chance to get a spot!
oikos has opened applications for the PhD Fellowship programme starting in Spring 2012! Two positions are available, with students of Finance or Marketing particularly invited to apply. Applications close on 26 September.

Former oikos PhD Fellow Martin Herrndorf is in the news again: Congratulations to him for winning the Henkel Science Slam at the Marketing Innovations Congress in Muenster last month!

Josip Zekic
Josip is currently co-President of oikos Zagreb, our first Chapter in Croatia. He studies Analysis and Business Planning at the University of Zagreb, and been part of the team developing large oikos Zagreb student conferences such as ‘International Student Conference: Time to Rethink Economics’, which has been running for three years, and The Finance Academy, which is a regional project that gathers the former Yugoslavian countries of Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Slovenia to discuss finance from a regional perspective. A graduate of the oikos Project Leadership Programme, Josip advises oikees around the world to ‘be the change you want to see in others!’

Meet oikos...
oikos St. Gallen member and long-term oikos friend Prof. Rolf Wuestenhagen will be visiting at National University of Singapore's Energy Studies Institute. He will also be teaching in an executive education course on Business Leadership on Climate Change at NUS Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy.
oikos PhD Fellow Patricia Mesquita is currently in São Paulo, Brazil, for a 2-month data collection period, conducting a series of interviews at the Brazilian office of EDP the third largest wind energy company in the world and the fastest-growing hydro energy company in Europe. Patricia's research focuses on Corporate Sustainable Entrepreneurship and the role of intrapreneurial efforts into creating organizational change.
