Dear Reader,
Drake once said that it is the journey that teaches us a lot about the destination. And we at oikos can happily agree to that. The first round of participants for the FutureLab got their invites and started their journey of #WalkTheTalk. If you haven't registered already, scroll below and register now! Preparations for the Summer School are on extreme mode as the date approaches closer and the CEE meeting taking place in Bratislava is following not far behind. Do not forget to check the Meet Us section, to come and say Hi to our members or hear them talk and give workshops. Don't forget to check what the Learning Circles are up to and the 30 seconds of this month with alumni Niels from St Gallen.

Registrations for the FutureLab 2016 #WalkTheTalk Are Open!
 The first round of applications has been concluded and the first participants have already received confirmation letters. Applications are open until September 21th, do not miss out! Keep an eye on our social media!
Use your time in St. Gallen: take a LEAP and increase your imp!act
 Applications for LEAP Advanced are now open. Embark on a one-year leadership journey, grow as a person and learn how to decide responsibly. The Journey starts in Switzerland, Nov. 2nd to 4th. And while there, you can also join a Training Programme for organizing an imp!act event, Nov. 4th to 6th.
oikos Roundtable on Sustainability in Finance in the UK
 On September 15, oikos organizes with the Henley Business School the Roundtable "Academic Research and Sustainable Investing, Seizing the Synergies", hosted by UBS in London. The event (invitation only) will convene faculty, practitioners and young scholars to identify synergies for ESG integration into finance research, and explore next steps to strengthening interactions between academia and practice.

oikos Hamburg Publishes Uni's Sustainability Report after Years of Analysis
 A process that took more than two years comes to an end. The project team presents the "Sustainability Report 2.0", the new report on University of Hamburg's sustainability.

Alumni Debate Online in September
 Join us online on September 27th at 7pm CEST for a lively panel by oikos Alumni on the role of sustainability in creating long-term value and business resiliency. Upload on the oikos Research Hub and Inspire!
 In July, we published 4 new theses on the oikos Research Hub! The Hub is a unique online platform to share research on sustainability in economics, finance and management among bachelor, master and PhD students. You can share your thesis or an abstract of your ongoing project. The goal: to encourage more students to undertake sustainability-related research!
oikos & the Henley Business School convene the sixth oikos Young Scholars Finance Academy
 14 exceptional young researchers in the field of finance and sustainability will discuss their works in progress with leading academics, advance their research and expand their international research relations. The profiles of selected participants and further information on the Finance Academy are available now.

30 seconds with...
Niels Rot, oikos St. Gallen, alumnus
In retrospect, one of the greatest things of my oikos days (2007-2011 St. Gallen) was the community of oikees with similar values and dreams for changing society. I am sure that without this support, I would not have gone the journey to become a (social) entrepreneur and co-found Impact Hub Zürich (with 2 fellow oikees ;)). Impact Hub is a global community of 80+ local incubators for social change.
 I am still regularly in touch with oikos alumni and so many do not find a meaningful career and miss the community support to make such a path happen. Since I am convinced there are many people out there who look for a meaningful career, but lack the means to get there, I am currently starting a new venture in the area of executive/post-grad education (think MBA alternative).
With STRIDE – unSchool for Entrepreneurial Leadership, which I am starting with another oikos alumnus (Björn Müller), we have created a one year learning program that enables people to reinvent their career. Instead of doing case studies, the learning happens around the experience of actually creating a new venture, in a community of changemakers. In this short video I share our learning philosophy and my story, with a very prominent role for oikos :). In short, I sometimes feel I have come full circle. Taking the best I got from oikos and proving this path to others well.
