30 Seconds with...
Bhavana Surapaneni, President of oikos Kolkata
Hello!!
A few of you know me from the Future Lab 2016. A big "Hi" to all those wonderful oikees out there, I am Bhavana from the Kolkata Chapter (and soon to be an alumna).
Some experiences stay with you forever, latched safely as a memory. Organizing the oikos Asia Meet 2017 was one such experience.
It all started with a discussion with Ankit during FutureLab 2016. While discussing themes for the Asia Meet, we were thinking of topics which would resonate with all oikos chapters and not just the Asian ones. We thought "Together We Can" would be a great theme to bring oikees closer. Levan was very enthusiastic about the idea and pitched in to give great inputs.
The most exciting part of organising was visualising the event, and planning the field trip to Mousuni island. Another exciting but challenging part was finding the right panelists (and how great they were!) The biggest challenge was finding the right time to do it. We finally ended up scheduling the event just before our final exams. Other challenges we faced were sponsorship and last minute cancellations.
It is important to have a great team to pitch in with ideas, support in execution and make organising the event super fun! To hear comments like “We do not have such amazing panelists in our conferences in Europe” made all the effort totally worthwhile.
I would like to thank Levan, Ankit and Sanober for their support, oikos Kolkata team for the great job done and all the participants for making this event so memorable.
I hope you all have a great time at the upcoming Spring Meeting!
Until we meet again, Alvida (Bye)
