Happy New Year!  Every year is full of new possibilities and we hope to create opportunities in sustainability education and leadership thanks to your engagement and commitment to oikos vision, mission and activities.

We kick off the year by presenting the oikos Strategy for 2018-2020 at the LEAP webinar on January 22, 2018. All the oikos members will be able to join the webinar after registration. Meanwhile, oikos chapters are working tirelessly to organize  invigorating and productive events for youngsters in oikos community and beyond. This year oikos Jamshedpur will host oikos Asia Meet in India,  while oikos Witten will gather youth for the 11th Winter School in Germany. oikos Barcelona is working hard to welcome participants on 8th-11th March 2018 at the oikos Spring Meeting in Spain. We are extremely happy to announce that we have two new chapters in accession in Moscow and Berlin.

In the Alumni Portrait segment meet our alumnus, Saurav Kumar Das from oikos Jamshedpur. Who are EB members?

Talented oikos members who are passionate about sustainable economics and management. They strategize and develop the oikos community, bring fresh ideas and implement new projects. In December we elected 6 committed individuals to become part of the oikos EB 2018.

Here is a note from the oikos EB:

"Each EB has already developed an action plan according to which they intend to work. We’ll share the plans with all the oikees. Katrin works on fundraising, Erikk on strategy, Benoît on the Alumni network, Abhishek on IT and Nurlan and Tiphaine on communications. Don’t hesitate to ask us about our work!

We are more than happy to announce that you have a strong EB team you can count on. And, one more important thing we are full of  humor and positivity :) We are all looking forward to meeting you in January at our webinar on the oikos Strategy 2018-2020."

Tiphaine:  "When thinking about all the things I'd like to change in the world and how it would be achievable, my thoughts always go back to education and to the importance of transforming the way people think in the first steps of their lives. The missions and vision of oikos match pretty well with my ideas as a student in sustainable management and with what I think I can achieve at this point of my life."

Benoît: "Back in October 2017 I organized the 1st Francophone Meeting with my chapter on the topic "Les économies alternatives". The most memorable moment occurred at the end of the meeting when the oikees thanked us for opening their eyes to the different ways to take action and to think. Some participants even decided to further analyse a topic they discovered at the meeting.  It showed that we indeed accomplish what we are striving for - to change minds and behavior of participants to achieve our oikos mission."

Nurlan: "I would like to make the oikos community stronger and reach to all the members. oikos chapters are very independent and they carry out impactful projects to promote sustainability, but it is important to connect all these chapters and share their experience. Soon we will also introduce the new strategy to the chapters and work hard to implement it with them."

Erikk: "Building a sustainable and more resilient world starts with changing how we think. Education is critical in forming our views about the world, so that is why we need to start there. My plan for oikos in 2018 is to help lay the foundations for a strong and stable international organization that will continue to impact the lives and change the mindsets of students around the world."
