Also, discover how Youth Forum can be a great platform to open a dialogue between students, academia and NGOs, an oikos Tbilisi experience. If you want to bring out your journalistic side, you can apply to become a Student Reporter at the World Resources Forum 2013 or the oikos Young Scholars Entrepreneurship Academy in Switzerland. oikos Tbilisi Shapes Higher Education in Georgia
Georgia90 university students along with representatives from NGOs and academia gathered at the Youth Forum in Tbilisi with a common agenda. They wanted their universities to support personal development of students, helping them gain the right competencies, and also reflect sustainable perspectives in their curricula and management. The key concern raised during the discussion was the direction in which Georgian Universities should go. To this, the participants agreed that their universities should have strong and esteemed student organisations, where there is a constructive dialogue between students and professors, and active participation of students in the university governance.

When I look back at my student life, the first thought that comes to my mind is that of oikos. And when I think of oikos, I mostly think of people whom I have met through oikos. Some have inspired me, some have made me question my opinion, and some have shared experiences I could relate to. I would not have known most of them if not for oikos. We sat next to each other at “oikos for pizza”, or randomly met during a restroom break of an oikos conference, or when we had to give an input for a workshop together because we were working on the same topic. These sorts of spontaneous chats and unexpected encounters, surrounded by the oikos spirit, have become rare in my life now. My student life was enriched by such oikos experiences and spirit. I miss this let’s-just-do-it-spirit, the honest commitments, and the inspiration drawn from bold visions in my everyday student life. Since I can’t go back to being a student, I thought to myself - why not recreate that spirit through an oikos Alumni group in Zurich! Most of the oikos St. Gallen Alumni are living or working in Zurich and I need to bring them together again! The oikos spirit shall live on in our professional lives.

oikos Alumni in Zurich Launched
With the new oikos Alumni team in Zurich and the support of Adriana (the Program Manager of oikos), I have embarked to build a well-connected, active network of oikos Alumni around Zurich. We have several projects in pipeline which we are going to promote through our Facebook group, the oikos St.Gallen website, and also the oikos LinkedIn Alumni Group.

Design your Professional Network with us
If you are ready to shape the oikos Alumni network, join us for our kick-off grill evening on 10th August in Zurich. More information will be available on our Facebook page soon. Alternatively, you can also start your own oikos Alumni team in your city.

For more information, contact Regula (regula.kramer@zg.ch) or Adriana (adriana.troxler@oikos-international.org).
