30 seconds with...
Lenka Parkanova and Anita Negri
Dear All,
With December a time of changes has come to St. Gallen. Lenka, the President of oikos International 2013 & 2014, has handed over her role to Anita. It would definitely take more than 30 seconds to describe our immense learning experiences but we will try to share with you a couple of impressions. Thank you, dearest oikos! You gave me a gift that shaped my life. In the last two years, together with the Executive Board members and Adriana, we had a chance to serve, inspire and empower oikos community which drives change towards sustainability in economics and management. It was great to walk on this path with all of you. During my time in oikos I learned to believe in people’s potential. When given trust and support, human beings achieve incredible things. I experienced it again when listening to the FutureLab opening statement of the chapter Presidents who introduced principles, values and initiatives of oikos community and invited us all to join and build a bridge for sustainability in economics and management. I was truly impressed and moved! One of my last oikos tasks was to support Anita on her way to take the role of the next international President. Seeing her huge energy, speed and persistence was very inspiring for me and I wish her best of luck in her new role! oikos brings together great personalities, allows them to learn, develop into emphatetic, proactive critical thinkers and act. Please make the best out of this opportunity and let me know if you need any help. Instead of goodbye, I prefer to say: See you around and keep in touch!
December 1st, 2014. Fog. Saint Gallen. In a flashback to exactly two months and ten days ago, the scenery was very different. Back then the sun was shining and my desk filled with goodies by Adriana and Lenka for my official welcome. These two months have been a lighting bolt. I do not think Lenka and I can express the amount of lessons we learnt together and from each other. The differences in backgrounds and working attitudes ignited splendid decision making. During the Presidents' Meeting and FutureLab I saw, not only the fruits of our hard work, but also the reason why I feel so strongly for oikos. These events surely set the stage for starting this oikos journey that is already leaving me speechless. As Lenka leaves, I cannot but say that our office will lose an important component. However, my dedication persists because I get to work within the EB and we are all ready to give it all for oikos. Further, I belong to the oikos community who will inspire me every day. I hope together we will pursue risks and strive for sustainability in economics and management. I am looking forward to the coming years and please do not forget to be part of it. Only together we will leave a real print and pursue our passion to become the change makers our world needs!
