Welcome to the November edition of our newsletter! The preceding month was full of amazing experiences for the oikos community who came together in Switzerland. The annual oikos FutureLab facilitated a vibrant exchange of ideas of building lasting change both in the classroom and in the broader world. The LEAP Meeting 2018 focused on empowering young decision-makers whose duty will be to shape a sustainable future for the generations to come. oikos also held a Legislative Assembly on 25 October that elected new oikos International Board 2019. Seven enthusiastic oikees joined President-elect Clémentine Robert and will shape oikos development in the coming year.
Our members also remained active in their local chapters. oikos Graz hosted an event on sustainable finance, while our newly established chapter in Hong Kong welcomed fellow students to their inaugural project titled CSR Career Talks.
In this edition of our newsletter, you can also meet our FutureLab team in the “30 seconds with” segment. Alumni Portrait series features John Henry, oikos ANU alumnus, who reflected on his oikos experience.
Finally, do not miss a chance to participate in the oikos Spring Meeting 2019 on Sustainable Urbanism. The meeting is hosted by oikos Belgrade from 15 to 18 March, 2019.

FutureLab: Exploring opportunities of building lasting change
The FutureLab 2018 was inspiring, challenging, thought-provoking, but above all, it was an impact-driven event. This year, our annual conference took place in Geneva, Switzerland from 26 to 27 October. The event welcomed over 100 oikos members, partners and supporters to discuss sustainability issues affecting our world and explore opportunities for the integration of sustainability into the economics and management curricula.

LEAP Meeting: Empowing student change agents
“LEAP is empowerment” - Maike, one of the LEAP Meeting participants from oikos Tübingen summarised her week-long development journey in these brief but all-encompassing words. The meeting that took place in Leysin, Switzerland from 19 to 25 October brought together around 60 participants with a goal to enhance their competencies and support young leaders in their role as change agents for a sustainable world.

oikos Graz: Discussing Sustainable Finance
oikos Graz, in cooperation with the Finance Club, hosted an event on the topic of Sustainable Finance at the Karl-Franzens University of Graz on 17 October. Speakers and the audience of around 80 people discussed sustainable investment trends in the European Union and weighed in on the importance of transparency in financial investment processes.

oikos Hong Kong: New Beginings with a CSR Career Talks
oikos Hong Kong joined our network in October, 2018 and already hosted their inaugural event from 6 to 7 November at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). The event titled CSR Career Talks featured guests from various business fields and provided participants a concrete view on what large corporate in Hong Kong is doing in regard to giving back to the society.

Alumni Portrait: John Henry
John Henry is an oikos Alumnus from our chapter at the Africa Nazarene University in Nairobi, Kenya. He recounted a story of his encounter with oikos and shared his thoughts on the network. John spoke about a student-run farm at the university campus and explained his efforts directed at shedding light on environmental issues.
