Join the oikos Winter School 2015
Money and trade is connecting people all over the world. In everyday life, we do not question our modes of transaction through money and trade – we take them to be grown all naturally and as if there were no alternatives. But is that really the case? This is the question we are asking at the next oikos winter school with the theme, “X-Change – Sustainability through money and trade“.We invite you to be part of the 11th oikos Winter School from February 23-27th 2015. It would be the perfect platform for fostering novel ways of driving businesses & rethinking of heterodox outdated economic theory. Meet highly innovative startups that are doing socially and ecologically sustainable business. Discuss new money concepts with prominent scientists. Work in an international team of creative minds. This is your opportunity, grab it!
Welcoming New Chapters in our oikos Community in India and Sweden!
In October we were proud to welcome oikos Patiala and oikos Lund into our network.
oikos Patiala is the dynamism by the students of Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, with a objective of promising sustainable future for its generation and many after. A major initiative of this chapter will be asserting feminist perspectives to sustainable development i.e. providing women with equal access to resources and their inclusion in the sustainable development process. A passionate group of students from the School of Econmics and Management introduced oikos Lund in the city of Köttbullar. After having consulted oikos Copenhagen, they are in turbo mode to start off with multiple projects. Amongst these, the local oikos Academy. On behalf of whole oikos network we wish oikos Patiala and oikos Lund good luck!

Nino Buliskeria
Dear oikees,
I am Nino Buliskeria, alumni of oikos Tbilisi. The experience of organizing the Summer School has been highly valuable for me. “Be Informed, Get Involved, Make a difference” has become the moto of my life ever science I joined the organization. Through oikos, I have gained knowledge in different fields, met talented and motivated people who want to come together to make a difference.
I have been involved both as an organizer and as a participant, in the various projects held by oikos. The sheer number and quality of projects offered by the different oikos chapters, makes this organization unique. It gives motivated students a chance to get valuable experience for their future career development and to meet new people with completely different backgrounds. This is the place where entirely different people united under one goal get together to generate new Ideas. One of the great examples being the Summer School 2014 held by oikos Tbilisi.
To me, the Summer School held in Tbilisi in August of 2014 was a unique chance to meet truly amazing participants and speakers. I also had a chance to familiarize them to Georgian culture, nature, hiking to the beautiful Gergetis Sameba (monastery) among many other activities. The academic activity with the theme –Social Entrepreneurship and Sustainability in Emerging Marketswas filled with lectures and assignments. Students were given the real cases of Georgian entrepreneurs, they had a chance to meet them personally and visit their factories or firms. The goal was to help entrepreneurs with the problems they were facing at that moment in Georgia. Moreover, they did it and they did it well! I am happy that I was the part of the Summer School and I would have regretted the opportunities to study, enjoy and help.
Fortunately, oikos is offering all new opportunities which I would strongly recommend to go for! oikos winter school 2015 aims to have discussions over as important question as is – How can we create a more sustainable society through new designs of money and trade. We will have a chance to meet the Visionary theorists of new monetary orders and entrepreneurial change agents designing new trading practice, who will discuss their theories with participants. It sounds very interesting for me, as another chance to be informed, get involved and to make a difference.
