Paris Conference
Our student president, Dawid Wroblewski, represented oikos on 19th-20th January in a Symposium organized by the french Conference of University Presidents and the Conference of Grandes Ecoles at UNESCO, Paris, on ‘Training and Social Responsibility: What Strategies of Transition of the European Higher Education Institutions?’. During Round Table discussions Dawid called for a stronger emphasis of impact-driven bottom-up student initiatives to change higher education systems. His view was well received and triggered lots of excitement.
Asia Meeting On 28th and 29th of January oikos members gathered in Ahmedabad, India for the Asia Meet – the first Regional Meeting of oikos in India. Recognizing the economic challenges, increasing population and industrialization of many Asian countries, oikos met with academics, practitioners and entrepreneurs to address and revive the philosophy of Sustainable Lifestyles. With two days of content sessions and hands-on activities the oikos Asia Meet proved to be a great platform for interaction, networking and institution building for oikos in Asia. Check out pictures and more on the meeting in our Facebook gallery.

Want to meet oikos this summer in the South of France? Then you should consider submitting your proposal for the oikos Faculty Symposium 2012, held during the GRONEN Conference 2012 at EUROMED Management School in Marseille. The focus should be on innovative approaches to curricular change and the submission deadline is February 15. The symposium features workshops with Andrew J. Hoffman (U. Michigan), Renato Orsato (FGV Sao Paulo) and Magali Delmas (UC Los Angeles).

Jordi Vives Gabriel, oikos PhD Fellow 2012-2015
Dear all
I am happy to introduce myself as the new oikos PhD fellow. My research is in the field of justice and human rights and I am pursuing a PhD in International Management at the University of St. Gallen’s Institute for Business Ethics. I am interested to understand, how multinational corporations are gaining leadership in front of the languishing role of States in the world order and what implications this has on their responsibilities with regards to justice and human rights.
Being from Barcelona, I have received a Bachelor and a Master in Business Administration by ESADE Business School and a Master of Research in Political and Social Science at Pompeu Fabra University. Since 2009 I’ve also collaborated with the Institute for Social Innovation at ESADE as researcher and lecturer on CSR and sustainability topics. Before engaging into academia I worked as analyst with Deloitte at their Transaction Advisory Services Department and subsequently at Hewlett Packard at the Marketing and Supply Chain divisions.
I am also thrilled by inclusive businesses and development topics, working as staff writer for the Spanish language NextBillion blog.
Apart from my studies, I do have two passions: Music and Mountaineering. I very much look forward to meet you and the oikos crowd at the next spring meeting in Barcelona and to start working together to change the world through oikos!
Jordi
