2018 Annual Conference: Leading Through Change
Over 600 decision makers and strategists from the world's most influential aerospace companies attended PNAA's 17th Annual Aerospace Conference!

This year's conference saw continued growth over previous years with 623 attendees from around the globe.  Executives and leaders representing over 330 companies from 10 nations gathered to hear how the aerospace industry is transforming and how they can stay ahead of their competition with the use of digital technologies, analytics, automation, advanced materials and advanced manufacturing techniques.
In addition to this year’s robust attendance, the lineup featured 43 expert speakers and aerospace analysts -- a 34% increase over last year.  “The addition of 11 tech sessions, 24 B2B buyers with 414 connections and 44 exhibitors – all record numbers – made for a banner year.” said PNAA’s Chairman Ted Croft.

PNAA's Annual Conference in the News: Hear from Leading Analysts
AirInsight’s Addison Schonland joined us at the conference and spent time interviewing leading analysts – Dr. Kevin Michaels, Richard Aboulafia and Michel Merluzeau – and asked key questions about how they view the PNAA Conference and what their key take-aways would be for the supply chain.  The conference was described as:
"PNAA is the premier event that really addresses the huge ecosystem here in Washington state surrounding Boeing.  It’s become a much larger aerospace conference that attracts European and Asian suppliers too.  It’s a place where you can deal with all suppliers, Tier 4 through to the OEMs." - Dr. Kevin Michaels
"It’s huge… It’s fascinating how they took the world’s biggest cluster, turned it into a tremendous conference and then let the world show up….there’s an international content that’s been growing so you have the feeling that it’s an important conference for all the right reasons." - Richard Aboulafia
"It’s a very important event, the mainstay of the supply chain getting together to assess the status of the industry.  Over the years we have seem a greater level of awareness among the local supply chain of global issues." - Michel Merluzeau
The key take-aways include:
OEMs are changing their business model to change the profitability balance between suppliers and OEM – the rule book is changing.  This is being reflected by the recruitment for new suppliers, activities like PFS, and vertical integration.
We are seeing the strongest market outlook in decades, led by commercial jetliner business, which in turn is being driven by airline traffic profitability, persistence of relatively cheap finances, relatively expensive fuel prices and growth in China.
The production rates are real and we have to be prepared for the sustained production volume.
The way things are built, cost and manufactured is changing.  Automation is more significant and will be very important in the next decades, but right now it is about controlling cost and ensuring that the supply chain responds favorably to OEM’s needs.
