Keith's Korner

Grace to you and peace.

Pentecost Sunday was terrific. Great worship. Wonderful discussion during Sunday School, amazing fellowship following worship.

Thanks to all who made the “Birthday of the Christian Church” a fun day.

This Sunday is Trinity Sunday. It is a day we celebrate the Trinity as well as the last day of extraordinary time.

Following Sunday, the Church moves to ordinary time till November.

Ordinary time is the season when the movement of the Spirit and the mission of the Spirit is more fully undertaken. Extraordinary time tells the story of God's gracious acts to fully redeem the world that was lost or compromised in the Garden

The decisions of the man and woman and the serpent in the garden are reversed, the confusion experienced at the Tower of Babel is reversed and the restoration of the Garden, i.e., the recognition of the Kingdom of God, is accomplished.

Ordinary time is the recognition that the mission of the Church, to bring the Kingdom of God on earth as it is in heaven, becomes Christianity's soul purpose. Telling the “Good News,” living the salvation story, and being faithful and obedient disciples and apostles is a Christians joy.

Like flowers and crops maturation is a slow and sometimes boring process, the results in the long run is a beautiful garden and a bountiful harvest. The master gardener and diligent farmer knows that there is work to be done, weeding, fertilizing, cultivating, etc., must be done. Yet, all is worthwhile and necessary.

Here at Provo Community Congregational United Church of Christ, part of that mission is to look to our future and the possibility of using our space for the betterment of our congregation and the betterment of Provo. I am excited for the privilege and I trust you are too.

This Sunday, Pastor Brown will be preaching on the Trinity. I am looking forward to his homily. Also we will baptize one of our newest members more fully into The Body. As this is an infant baptism, we will experience the full meaning of grace.

God is active and alive here at PCCUCC. Thank you Lord God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

See you in Church.
