Hello SaveTogether Community,

I’m writing to provide you an update on the evolution of SaveTogether.

Since we launched in October 2009, we have been busy introducing America to the power of matched savings. Along the way, individuals from throughout the country have been inspired by the stories of our profiled savers and have taken a step to support the matched savings field by signing up on the website, making a donation, and spreading the word. In just over one year, we have raised over $30,000 and seen some of our savers purchase homes, attend college, and start their own small business.

We are proud of our accomplishments and steadfast in our commitment to make this a true national movement. Over the fall, we assessed our growth and asked ourselves how we could best achieve our mission. We decided that SaveTogether could have greater impact in the hands of a well-resourced, mission-aligned, national organization that can expand this exceptional program to the scale we envisioned. And lucky for us, we didn’t have to look far.

We are pleased to announce that we will be transitioning the program to CFED, our Washington-DC based partner that has been supporting the asset-building field for over thirty years. Not only is CFED one of our founding partners (along with EARN, Juma Ventures, and Opportunity Fund) but the organization is busy preparing for an ambitious, national matched savings marketplace. Think of it as a SaveTogether 2.0. We are planning on the transition to this new marketplace to be seamless and look forward to welcoming you into an even larger community in 2011.

All donations raised to date on the site will be distributed to the matched savings programs supporting your designated savers. Any donations made directly to SaveTogether will be transferred to CFED to support the development of the new marketplace. After the platform is transitioned to CFED and before the marketplace is launched, we will keep the SaveTogether site live and transfer any funds given to savers to their respective matched savings programs.

SaveTogether and our partners thank you for reaching out and connecting with our savers, helping them reach their goals, and showing them that you believe in them. In a nation that is re-learning sound financial principles, we appreciate your commitment to building a new save and invest economy.
