"Whoever drinks the water I shall give will never thirst; the water I shall give will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." (John 4:14)
Dear Friend of Montserrat,
As we are in the midst of this Lenten journey, Pope Francis recently reminded us in his March 19th Angelus Message of the importance of seeking Jesus as the life-giving water whom quenches our thirst. In his reflection he states, "this time of Lent is a good time to approach him, meet him in prayer in a heart to heart conversation, see his face in the face of a brother or sister suffering." Pope Francis reminds us of the need to grow deeper in Christ this Lent through prayer in a true "heart to heart" relationship with Jesus.
We have many opportunities here at Montserrat to embrace this Lenten journey. On March 25th, we will host the Sábado de Renovación en Español con Padre Chris Schroeder, S.J.: "Caminando la Vía de la Cruz durante los Tiempos Difíciles" de 9 AM a 12 PM. The next Saturday of Reflection in English will be on April 1st from 9 AM to 12 PM. Join us as Mrs. Carol Ackels, Director of the Ignatian Spirituality Institute, will be discussing the "Sounds of Silence." The morning will include brief conferences, time for quiet reflection, and exploring the experience with others that "God is silent."
For the remainder of this Lent, we still have one men's retreat and one women's retreat. The #14 Women's Retreat on "Doubt and Hope" with Mrs. Carol Ackels will be from April 6 - 9. The #15 Men's Holy Week Retreat on "No Greater Love" with Fr. Anthony Borrow, S.J. will be from April 9 - 12. You can register for one of these retreats by clicking on the links above.
If you have not had the opportunity to check out our newest video of "Why Montserrat?" Please check out this video, as retreatants share their personal experience of what a retreat at Montserrat means to them.
If you have not had the opportunity to make your annual retreat, you can register today on our website or by contacting the office.
We will continue to pray for you and your family.
|Saturday of Renewal: "The Sounds of Silence"
April 1, 2017, 9 AM to 12 PM
Mrs. Carol Ackels will be leading this upcoming Saturday of Renewal entitled, "The Sounds of Silence."
Christian disciples often report "God is silent." What is described as silence is experienced in one's whole self—emotional, physical, and spiritual. Sometimes this experience disturbs and distresses us. The questions rise, "Why is God so quiet? Why isn't God doing anything? What am I to do?" This morning will include brief conferences, time for quiet reflection, and exploration of this experience with others.

|St. Ignatius Chapel
|At the end of December 2016, we started the long-awaited renovation of St. Ignatius Chapel. As of this past week, the internal renovations have been completed, and we were able to use the newly renovated Chapel for the first time during the #11 Men's Retreat. While outside renovations are still in progress, we are excited about the progress that has been made.
Donations to the St. Ignatius Chapel Fund are welcome and will help us further serve the mission of Montserrat.
|Why make a retreat at Montserrat?
|Montserrat Jesuit Retreat House is pleased to release a promotional video with Bishop Michael Olson of the Fort Worth Diocese. In the video, Bishop Olson discusses the importance of a yearly retreat to our spiritual growth. You can check out the video on our YouTube page.

Montserrat is a spiritual home for many and provides a transformative experience to countless retreatants. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to Montserrat Jesuit Retreat House. This enables us to continue to offer financial assistance to those who desire a deeper relationship with the Lord but cannot afford a retreat, to support the renovation of St. Ignatius Chapel, and to continue to provide a sanctuary where retreatants can reflect on God's love and mercy.
