"Who on this policy board is without insurance?"

MurielPic
The following comment was sent by Muriel Wentzien, an uninsured member of Leaven Project / Redeemer Lutheran to the Oregon Health Policy Board after MACG’s December Health Care Reform Assembly.

Her remarks to the Health Policy Board members advocate for governance by consumers - not corporate interests.

This is in alignment with MACG’s specific advocacy for significant consumer representation on the state’s future Coordinated Care Organization boards.

Muriel’s email is an inspiring example of the MACG organizing principle of taking public action through the passion of her personal story.

The 2011-2012 Friends of MACG campaign has successfully organized $10,390 in donations since July, 2011.  That’s twice as much as previous years’ averages of $5000!  The total number of donors - 65 - also doubled this year  over previous years.

FOMG Graphic 11000 2Even better, counting pledged monthly donations until June, 2012, MACG is just under $1000 short of its goal of raising $12,000 through individual donations this year, with six months to go!

Friends of MACG is about building power through organizing our own money to bring about social change.  And we're doing it!!!
