Dear Scouting Volunteer,
Over the past weeks there has been a lot of discussion about the Boy Scouts
of America and our membership policies as it applies to sexual
orientation. The Yucca Council leadership is committed to keeping
you informed. On February 6th the National Executive Board directed its
committees to engage representatives of Scouting's membership and listen to
their perspectives and concerns regarding the BSA membership policy. The National Key 3 has released more information and future dates for the Membership Decision, please click here!
In May of this year, voting members of the National Council will take action on
a yet-to-be-determined resolution at the National Annual Meeting. It's
important to note that the National Executive Board and 1,400 voting members
are volunteer leaders and are not paid executive staff. Each Scout Council has
a delegation of voting members based upon the membership of the council.
We have three voting members. These members are to cast their votes based upon
the will of the Yucca Council’s members, YOU.
In order to receive a consistent quality of responses, the National Office
has hired a third party company to conduct an online survey of all Scouting
families. This “Voice of the Scout” survey will be conducted March 8th
through the 15th. To insure that every family has an opportunity to voice their
opinion, the National Office is updating their records.
The Spring Voice of the Scout survey will launch March 8th. This
survey will include an additional question(s) seeking opinions about the
potential change to membership standards policy being considered at the
National Annual Meeting in May. You can update your email address
with the new MyScouting tools where a unit committee chair or unit leader
can enter the info for the entire unit (see instructions below).

Update Your Email Address on MyScouting
From www.scouting.org: To access MyScouting Tools, a
Scouter simply logs into MyScouting.org and clicks the link located on the
landing page. A “toolkit” is equivalent to a BSA organization
structure. For example, if you’re part of a unit, your unit will appear
as a toolkit. MyScouting Tools has two main levels of access: My
Dashboard and Roster Manager. A unit leader or adult volunteer can access
the My Dashboard tool, where announcements and calendar dates will
appear. Under My Profile, leaders and volunteers now have the ability to
update their contact information. This is a huge enhancement because
updates to phone numbers, email addresses, and other contact information are immediate.
The unit Key 3 and district Key 3 will have a second level of access. The
Roster Manager tool lets them view and export their roster information and make
contact updates for anyone on their roster.
Also, please forward this email to other volunteers in your unit and/or
district who might not be on our council database to make sure everyone has the
opportunity to update their email address. These recent discussions have shown
that America cares about Scouting and our volunteer leaders are dedicated to
