Dear PRNSA Members and Volunteers:

A series of unusual southerly storms and currents have unloaded a huge amount of plastic, glass and other debris on Point Reyes National Seashore beaches, extending from the Lighthouse to Abbotts Lagoon. This trash is dangerous to wildlife, hazardous to those walking the beach, and unsightly.

On Sunday, June 20 PRNSA and the Environmental Action Committee of West Marin are sponsoring a special clean up of the Great Beach, one of the most important features of Point Reyes National Seashore. Volunteers are needed to help bag debris. Children are welcome at this project.

Volunteers should gather at 9:30 a.m. at the North Beach Parking lot . Stay as long as you like, and help restore this beach to its natural beauty. If you can help at all, please send an email to confirm your participation to membership@ptreyes.org.

Many thanks for your help with this urgent, and necessary clean up of one of the National Park Service's greatest treasures.
