Board Member Spotlight
Barbara Edinger, President-Elect
As the National Business Retention Manger for Ryder Systems, Inc, Barbara brings the same passion and dedication in helping HMHB’s clients reach their potential as she has continually proved professionally with Ryder, for nearly 40 years.
Although one of the newest members of our Board, Barbara has jumped in as an active part of our organization and is currently assisting with corporate sponsorships for the Mothers Day Luncheon in May.
“As I have participated in events, completed my orientation to learn about the various programs and their success rates, I became energized to be a part of the team! I look at it as an opportunity to use my personal and professional skills and relationships to make a positive contribution to the Staff, Board of Directors and community,” Barbara commented
When not working or volunteering in the community, Barbara enjoys relaxing at her home in Davie with her husband, working out and traveling when possible to visit their three daughters, son, and six grandchildren aged 14 to 5 months scattered within and out of the state!

Program Spotlight: Healing Your Heart
HMHB Bereavement Support Group
In the article ‘When Babies Die, Dads Often Suffer in Silence’ [January 17, 2011, Sun-Sentinel] columnist Nicole Brochu wrote about the isolation fathers often feel after the loss of a child. While there is no specific process, or right way to handle grief, there are healthy and effective ways to cope.
Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies of Broward County is proud to be one of many agencies nationwide heeding the call to provide support through a monthly Healing Your Heart Bereavement Support Group in collaboration with Memorial Healthcare System
To read the follow up article we submitted (scheduled to print next week) to the Sun-Sentinel, and learn more about the Healing Your Heart program, please visit our Facebook Page

Become a HMHB Coupon Crusader
Share A Little, Help A Lot
A few weeks ago we placed a post online asking for unneeded coupons be sent to our office instead of discarding them in the trash, stating we would distribute them to our clients to help them save a little cash.
Well - our little post went a long way, and met with great success; we were simply elated when coupon stuffed envelopes poured on the front desk.
So when that Sunday paper comes and your clipping routine is done - we hope you can seal the rest in an envelope and smile, knowing your efforts will help someone.
Coupons may be mailed to

Recipe of the Month: Red & Green Bell Pepper Bites
A Super Heart Healthy Snack for your Super Bowl Party
We all know that Super Bowl Sunday is not just about the game, it’s about crashing on the couch and simply pigging out. Did you know it's estimated the average football fan eats about a day’s worth of calories (1,800 - 2,000) during the game alone? That's a lot of pizza, hotdogs and chips!
With February being Heart Health Month, why not add some heart-healthy snacks to your game-day buffet and initiate a game of flag football at halftime instead. That way regardless of who wins the game, you’ll score big points among your family and friends for keeping then healthy and fit.
