Dear Sir/Madam,
At
Fitness O2, we are getting asked the same questions
quite frequently:
"I only eat one meal
a day, and yet I don't seem to be losing weight at the
rate that I want, why is that?"
"Some people say
it's better to eat more meals per day if you wish to
start losing weight, how is that possible?"
We thought of shedding some
light into this mystery, and sharing it with you.
More Meals Per Day: Yum Yum
Eating frequently makes
your body think it has a constant source of energy, and
hence does not need to store any "spare" energy in the form
of fat for later use when needed. This leads to your body
burning this food intake on the fly. Keeping your intake for
each meal to a reasonable size ensures there is no excess
energy to store. This is what is known as "high
metabolic rate".
What About the Opposite:
Eating One Meal a Day?
Eating one meal a day makes your body think you do not have
a constant source of energy, and hence tends to think it is
in "starvation mode", i.e. does not have a continuous source
of food or energy to use. Therefore, as soon as your body
gets food, it uses the bare minimum and immediately stores
the remaining as fat for later use during your "starvation"
period. This is known as "low
metabolic rate".
