Estimad@ Amig@ {FIRST_NAME},

In January, one of our staff members, SSG Monique Brown, USA (Ret.) created Forward Operating Base (FOB) Hope, a non-profit organization that collects and delivers items to Veterans living on the street. Through her job as a Veterans Outreach Specialist here at El Centro de la Raza, Monique comes across many homeless Veterans in need of toiletries, socks, backpacks, sleeping bags, and clothing. Our Veterans Outreach Program works to connect Veterans with the benefits they have earned by providing information and referrals for filing claims, post traumatic stress disorder and crisis management, employment assistance, and many other services. However, there was not yet an aspect of the program that was able to provide Veterans with items that would help them in their current living situations. Ms. Brown has said that El Centro de la Raza has taught her not to accept the status quo and to become a person of action - so she created FOB Hope to bridge the gap she found. We are very proud to have staff members who carry out the mission of El Centro de la Raza both at work and in their personal lives. Mil gracias to Monique for all her hard work, initiative, and determination to help Veterans in need. If you are interested in donating items or learning more about FOB Hope, contact SSG Monique Brown at 253-970-4431 or M.Brown@FOBHope.org.
