Do you enjoy books?  Have you ever thought about helping out with our schools Book Fair?  Now is your chance!  We use to schedule all book fair shifts, click on the link and get your shift, before they are all gone!  Duties may include:  running the register, helping students find prices or a great book, setting up, cleaning up or straightening books.   Our Spring Book Fair will run March 12th-15th.  Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, during Elementary Summatives we will remain open until 8 p.m.  If you have any questions, please contact Mindy Duet.



The 2017-2018 school year still has 2 remaining quarters full of fun and learning to experience, but Horizon Honors is already planning for the next school year. I am often asked what parents should expect and the timeline for the transition from one school year to the next.
When students move from one multi-age group to the next, parents often have many questions or are curious about the differences in the program at the next level. Because of this we have scheduled transition meetings on Thursday, March 8th. These meetings are designed for parents. We will have transition meetings and activities for students in all grade levels throughout the 3rd & 4th quarter. All transition meetings for parents are on March 8th, and will be held in the MPR. 
  • 8:15 - 9:00: Parents of 2nd grade children going into 3rd grade
  • 2:15 - 3:00: Parents of Kindergarten children going into 1st grade
  • 3:15 - 4:00: Parents of 4th grade children going into 5th grade 
Horizon Honors’ classroom scheduling and placements begin during the 4th quarter for Kindergarten through 6th grade students. We make every effort to keep students within a multi-age group (in ½ or ¾) in the same classroom from year to year, however, some students do move to other classes. As you know, student placement is based primarily on academic peer groups and having students with a group that will properly challenge them. The placement process begins with teacher academic and social recommendations. This is why it is important to have these discussions with your child’s teachers during your 4th quarter ILP conference. This discussion will include math and reading level recommendations. Specific classrooms and teachers are not selected at this time. Preliminary lists are created and teachers review lists and continue to refine the new classroom groupings. This process continues throughout the quarter and into the summer months.
During the summer, classroom placements are finalized and you will receive information regarding your child’s schedule, classroom assignment(s) and an invitation for your family to “Meet the Teacher” day.

It’s that exciting time of year again, scheduling for next school year. The student information session will be 2:15 pm to 3:15 pm and the parent session is from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm March 14th in the Community Room.  The evening session is for parents of current 6th graders who will be attending 7th grade next year.  We hope many of you take advantage of this evening session with our entire student support team.  All scheduling materials will be available March 7th via your child’s email and the Horizon Honors Secondary School website in the College and Career Center section.

Hello everyone! Relay for Life is rolling around and we need your support. Relay For Life is an event to fundraise and support people battling or that could not fight cancer on March 9th. This is an event for your whole family and a time to honor cancer survivors and family members lost to cancer.

We are inviting you to join us walking to help save lives from cancer, at Horizon Honors Relay For Life event and become part of team No Place For Cancer. Relay participants are determined to help the American Cancer Society fight all stages of all cancers, in all communities.

American Cancer Society Relay For Life events bring communities together, where teams take turns walking or running around a track or path. Symbolizing that no one should face cancer alone, we take turns or walk together to show our passion for seeing the end of cancer in our lifetime.

Show kindness and help fight the cure. If you donate to the  American Cancer Society or walk for the cure your saving lives. If this was your loved one who had cancer you would want people to donate to them so they can survive. So please show kindness and join Relay for Life and our team.
