Early Release

3rd Q ILPs

Your child’s Individual Learning Plan (ILP) is designed individually each quarter and includes a list of learning outcomes the student is expected to achieve by the end of that quarter. This serves as both a visual indicator of progress and an agenda for personal conferences with the student’s teachers and parents. Progress on the learning outcomes is noted in the PowerSchool program.  The final level of achievement on each learning outcome will be a part of the student’s ILP.  ILPs are developed each quarter during a student/parent/teacher ILP conference.  The conference includes a review of the student’s progress and goals for the upcoming quarter.

  • Participation in the ILP Conference is required. Students might not be promoted to the next grade level and/or graduate without this involvement.
  • Third quarter ILP Conferences are Thursday, January 10th and Friday, January 11th.
  • Students attend ILP Conferences with their parents/guardians.
  • Appointments are required.
  • No walk-ins allowed.
  • Expect to spend about 45 minutes reviewing your child’s work, setting goals and meeting with teachers.
  • If your family has multiple student siblings, please plan accordingly.
  • Talk with your child before the ILP Conference to discuss how things are going for the quarter, and maybe some areas they would like to improve on - help them set realistic and helpful goals as they move into the quarter.
  • ILP Conference Days are also Early Release Days. Elementary students will end their day at 11:30 a.m.

Softball Update from Coach Gephart
Horizon 5-6 softball won big last Thursday night against Lincoln Prep 17-1. The team was led by strong pitching from a Audriana A. and Josie B. Kylie D. led the team with 2 hits and 3 RBI’s. One of the hits was a two run homerun. Taylor B. also had a hit and 2 RBI’s. McKenna B. and Addyson M. helped the team out with 2 and 3 RBI’s respectively. An all-around great team effort in a convincing win. Come cheer on YOUR Horizon Honors Eagles at their next game at Sonero Park in Scottsdale on Friday, December 14th at 5 pm against N. Phoenix Prep.

Baseball Update from Coach Rubio
The long drive to North Scottsdale Copper Ridge Middle School provided a lot of time for the Horizon Honors boys to mentally prepare for what would turn out to be a very tough fought game last Friday afternoon.  After jumping out and scoring 2 quick runs in the 1st inning Copper Ridge matched with 2 runs of their own.  It wasn't till the 4th inning that Aidan A. (Double A) started us off with a triple and the scoring what would ultimately the winning run on a passed ball at home plate.  This game was all about pitching and Tyler W. started us off with 3 solid innings and Chase W. came in to throw 3 scoreless innings.  The game got tense in the last inning as they had a runner on 3rd in scoring position when the batter flied out to short stop and sure handed Tyler W. caught the 3rd out allowing Horizon to come away with the win. The Eagles had AMAZING fan support - we had just as many fans on our side as the home team had on their side.  This team continues to make us proud!
Come out and cheer on YOUR Horizon Honors Eagles at their next game on Friday, December 14th at Pioneer Park. Game time: 3:30
