THE GREAT KINDNESS CHALLENGE!
Hello, the Great Kindness Challenge is coming up. Please do your best to participate! Even if you are not a student you can still participate and join in toward this great cause. This challenge not only improves our school, but also Ahwatukee, Phoenix, Arizona, the USA, North America, even the Earth, because bit by bit, it all makes a difference. The difference lasts not temporarily, but permanently. Be the difference in your community by supporting and encouraging the acts of kindness we complete. Day by day you will mark off the deeds that you complete to spread kindness. Please make sure you are being honest and trustworthy about the checklist. We want this to benefit you and spread NO PLACE FOR HATE like confetti. Make sure you have the checklist with you at all times. The teachers will be looking for leaders that are prepared. Thank you for your time! And remember to check off those boxes!- Your Elementary Student Council

Presidents' Day

ELEMENTARY & MIDDLE SCHOOL SPANISH UNITE!
This quarter our 5-6 Spanish students are reading and translating a novela about a young boy who must relocate to Mexico for a year while his mom teaches there.  He leaves behind his Dad, friends and the comforts of his home.  At the end of each chapter Mrs. McCrory's students participate in a "shared inquiry".  This is a time when students are provided with a variety of discussion questions that help students make personal connections to the book along with their own inferences.  Students reference the book and back up their responses with evidence from the text.  For an extra level of challenge and practice, Mrs. McCrory invited Mrs. Barden's Honors Spanish class to come and facilitate the latest shared inquiry.  Mrs. Barden's class read the novela ahead of time and developed the questions themselves.  The middle school students helped to incorporate more Spanish discussion and interactions.  We were very proud of all of our students and we look forward to continued shared experiences and a celebration once the novela is complete!
