American's Attitudes on Prescription Drug Safety

Pew conducted a survey as part of the Pew Prescription Project.   The survey provides some interesting insights into the future of U.S. drug safety, legislation and regulation.  Pew surveyed 802 likely American voters and has a 3.5% margin of error.  The following are key findings from the survey:

  • 63% of Americans are not aware of economic adulteration of pharmaceuticals
  • The vast majority of Americans trust pharmaceuticals made in the U.S. and are suspicious of pharmaceuticals made in China

Finally, 9 out of 10 Americans support new prescription drug safety measures.
