Interfaith Build Needs Volunteer Groups

We still have openings for churches who would like to participate in the Interfaith Build!  Call Anita or Jennifer at 251-476-7171 if you want to participate.  Click here for more information on the build and how your faith-based organization can get involved.  In addition to filling our volunteer spaces, we need lunches to be provided for most of the build days.  If you or your faith-based organization would like to provide lunch for our Interfaith Build volunteers, please contact us today!

Mark Your Calendars for World Habitat Day

World Habitat Day is October 5 and this year, we plan to celebrate in style!  If you have ever volunteered on our worksite and would like to do it again, this would be a great day to get involved!  We are planning a special build on that day, and we want you to be involved!  Special prizes will be given away, lunch will be provided, and it will be a fun day out on the work site!  So sign up now - individuals and groups accepted!  Call Jennifer at 476/7171 for more information.

Wanted: Volunteers

We need volunteers on our worksites, in our office, and at our ReStore!  Here are some specific activities that volunteers can do to help us right now.

Computer Guru - We need someone to help us launch a new database system and import all our old files into the new system.  Also, our website could use a little updating.  If you are well-versed in Access and Dreamweaver, we would like to talk with you! 

ReStore Literature Distribution - Don't know what to do with your Saturday?  We need people to come to our ReStore and pick up literature to distribute in neighborhoods in Mobile.  Our ReStore door hangers can be hung on any regular doorknob and help us advertise one of our greatest assets - the ReStore!  If you can spare a few hours on a weekday or a Saturday and want to share great information with your neighbors or with other neighborhoods, call Lois at 662-1121 for information on how you can distribute door hangers!

Construction / Worksite - We always, always, always need construction volunteers!  Even if you have never seen a hammer or a paintbrush, we can teach you how to build a house!  Our expert team is waiting to show you how to raise walls, attach siding, hang doors, and lay floors (just to name a few of our favorite tasks!)  Call Jennifer at 476-7171 if you are able to come out any Tuesday through Saturday to volunteer with us.

September Homeowner Orientation Scheduled

If you know someone who is interested in becoming a Habitat Homeowner, please let them know we are having a Prospective Homeowner Orientation on Saturday, September 19 at 10 a.m.  These orientations are held at the Habitat ReStore Home Improvement Center, which is located at 4128 Government Blvd. in Mobile.  Pass this on to anyone you think may need a safe, decent, affordable home.

Community Orientation Scheduled for September

For anyone who has ever wondered about Habitat for Humanity, we have an easy way to learn more!  A community orientation will be held on September 26 at 10 a.m. at the Hillsdale Community Center located at 558 Felhorn Rd. East in Mobile.  In only one hour, you will learn everything you ever wanted to know about Habitat!  Bring friends with you and find out how you can get involved!
