Each year at the Heart of Gold luncheon we celebrate the vision of our founder, Alice Graham Baker, and the contributions of community leaders who share our commitment to bringing resources, education and connection to underserved neighborhoods.

Proceeds from each table sponsorship will provide basic human services for local children, adults and seniors throughout the Texas Gulf Coast region as they strive toward achieving their dreams of a better life.

Neighborhood Tax Centers Offer Free Tax Preparation

Neighborhood Tax Centers, a program of Neighborhood Centers Inc., offer quality tax preparation by IRS-certified preparers for families that earn up to $50,000. With 20 locations across Houston, Neighborhood Tax Centers offer convenient day, evening and weekend hours for tax preparation at no cost. They can also process refund express loans.

Last year, Neighborhood Tax Centers prepared over 16,000 returns claiming $23 million in refunds and tax credits for Houston families.  The goal for 2010 is to prepare 21,000 returns and claim at least $25 million in refunds and credits.

Season of Giving

Neighborhood Centers was celebrating the season of perpetual giving throughout many of its centers in December. From food drives to toy drives, individuals and families were blessed with surprises around the Houston area.
