A Great Conclusion to Year Two
Congratulations are in order for the athletes (not to mention devoted parents and supportive volunteers) who just finished the second year of RVR!

Thanks to Margie Nicosia for pictures
The trip to Vancover, WA for Regionals was a blast for everyone. Athletes (and coaches!) were busy racing as rowers and coxswains in eights and fours and quads. The regatta was larger than any that we had been to before, it was a beach launch for everyone, and the competition was definitely tough. But everyone handled any situation that came their way and finished the weekend with a smile.

RVR athletes, family members, staff, and volunteers enjoy a Seattle Sounders game in celebration of a great year 2. Many, MANY thanks to program sponsor Virginia Mason for this great opportunity!

News from the Coach's Launch...
Wow. What a year for RVR. Another successful fall, winter, and spring completed on the water (and the ergs). A whole new class of athletes excited to move on to rowing varsity. A hugely successful Benefit Breakfast that exceeded all expectations. The growth, in ways big and small, of RVR is a credit to the passion and committment of all of you.
Your support has inspired many in the Rainier Valley, throughout the Northwest, and across the country. Community members, media outlets, and youth leaders know the program and want to get involved. Seattle Public Schools is partnering to bring indoor rowing to their PE curriculum so that all students are aware of and have access to the rich resources of rowing and Seattle waterways. And the George Pocock Rowing Foundation has a new youth development initiative, Row to the Future, that is inspired by RVR and dedicated to providing widespread access to the sport of rowing through indoor and on-the-water programs and support.
It's great to see all the work that has been put into RVR by so many growing into so much. The future is bright, and we look forward to working together with all of you to bring many more youth into a program - and a sport - that inspires them to expand their opportunities and become healthy and engaged members of their communities.
Our thanks,
RVR Program Staff
