Jack Rutberg Fine Arts in Los Angeles proudly announces its representation of the works of Joel-Peter Witkin.
The news follows the gallery's recent major exhibition entitled "Twin Visions: Jerome Witkin & Joel-Peter Witkin." That critically celebrated exhibition, which ended August 30, paired the two identical twin brothers, estranged for more than 50 years. With record breaking crowds, the exhibition was cited as this year's most talked-about exhibition in Los Angeles.
Jack Rutberg Fine Arts has long represented painter, Jerome Witkin, and now announces its twin representation of both Witkins. In that capacity, the gallery will oversee an international museum tour, timed with the release of a feature film currently in production, inspired by this coming together of these remarkable unique visionary and influential artists.
Twin Visions, extended as a result of record crowds, allowed for the concurrent publication of a book of the same title, "Twin Visions: Jerome Witkin & Joel-Peter Witkin", soon to be released internationally through D.A.P distributors. Advance copies are now available through Jack Rutberg Fine Arts. This just- published exhibition catalogue is illustrated in full and double page spreads. The text includes the first interviews of the artists together, as well as many of the initial reviews published including an introduction by Jack Rutberg and an audio CD of the historic first interview with Jerome and Joel-Peter Witkin, broadcast on Public Radio, recorded on the opening day of this historic exhibition.
With the continuing response and inquiries about the Twin Visions exhibition, Jack Rutberg Fine Arts has just announced that it's center galleries will be devoted to a reduced version of its Witkin exhibition, as an added offering during it's major survey exhibition, Bruce Richards: Future/Past.
