Bill McKibben--Author and Environmentalist to Speak at Ride Finale
Meeting the riders at the triumphant end on Capitol Hill, is Bill McKibben, environmentalist and founder of 350.org. McKibben frequently writes about global warming and alternative energy and advocates for more localized economies. In 2010 the Boston Globe called him "probably the nation's leading environmentalist" and Time magazine described him as "the world's best green journalist.” In 2009 he founded the organization 350.org, which coordinated what Foreign Policy magazine called "the largest globally-coordinated rally of any kind," with 5,200 simultaneous demonstrations in 181 countries. The magazine named him to its inaugural list of the 100 most important global thinkers, and MSN named him one of the dozen most influential men of 2009. Full bio. (It's worth a read!)

A Message from 16 year old activist Alec Loorz
Hey, this is Alec Loorz. I'm 16 years old and the founder of Kids vs. Global Warming and the iMatter Campaign. I'm writing to you today to tell you about The iMatter March, a campaign to empower the youngest generation to stand up with a united voice on the most urgent crisis of our time: the global climate crisis. Together, we will issue a wake-up call so loud and so unquestioning, we will be impossible to ignore. The week of Mother’s Day, May 7 to May 14, 2011 in communities all around the world, youth will march in the streets to demand that our leaders prioritize the planet for our future over their re-election or profits. Make your voice heard, join a march in your community. Check out this video about iMatter and sign up at www.imattermarch.org.

The mission of the Washington Area Bicyclist Association is to create a healthy, more livable region by promoting bicycling for fun, fitness, and affordable transportation; advocating for better bicycling conditions and transportation choices for a healthier environment, and educating people about safe bicycling. Funds from Climate Ride support WABA’s vision of an integrated transportation system that links transit, trails, bicycling, and walking facilities to connect the places DC residents live, work, and play.
