Join Kentucky Waterways Alliance as we host the largest environmental film festival in North America!

Feb. 27

Louisville,KY

Hi Friend,

We hope you make plans to attend the 2nd Annual Wild & Scenic Environmental Film Festival on February 27 in Louisville.

The theme this year is "Water Connects Us All." Our films and festivities will highlight how we can all take action for the health of our environment! And we'll tell you about our new plans for Beargrass Creek in 2010. We'll have music provided by our emcee John Gage of Kentucky Homefront during intermission, and Dr. David Wicks will be giving away the 2nd annual "Steering the Future Course of Beargrass Creek" award to an individual who has made considerable efforts in restoring the creek.

Where: The Clifton Center, 2117 Payne Street, Louisville, KY

Time: Opening Reception begins at 7 p.m. and films start at 8 p.m. - 11 p.m.

Admission to the film festival is $15. Admission to the opening reception is $30 and includes a KWA membership & film ticket. KWA members get into the opening reception with purchase of a film ticket.

The opening reception includes appetizers provided by Wiltshire Pantry and Wiltshire on Market and a wine tasting courtesy of Riverbend Winery. Riverbend will also sell bottles of wine that night with partial proceeds going toward KWA. Finally, Bluegrass Brewing Company has generously donated their fine brews. (Check them all out online by clicking on their logos below.)

Tickets are now available online so act fast and purchase today!

This year we're proud to welcome John Gage of Kentucky Homefront as our emcee. John is a veteran stage emcee at major festivals across Kentucky. Also a talented musician, John will enchant you that evening with his resonant tenor voice and flat-picking guitar. Dave Shuffett, last year's emcee, will also be on hand to show a segment about Kentucky's Big South Fork Recreational Area - known for its pristine waters and breathtaking views.

Our film line-up includes stories of everyday people who have made a difference for our environment one action at a time. We'll be showing A Simple Question, the Story of S.T.R.A.W where hope and inspiration can be found in the Stemple Creek Watershed of Northern California. And Living Lightly, by Louisville filmmaker Robin Burke, who uses film to explore a way of relating to and loving the land and the bounty it conveys in return for devotion. Visit our website to view trailers.

With generous support from 9th District Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh and 8th District Councilman Tom Owen, we're also excited to bring you a special program this year for children. This event is open to the public before our evening program from 3 - 5. In addition to music and entertainment provided by John Gage, we'll be showing G-rated films like Every Day at School, a film that lets you follow a class down under as they spend the first five minutes of every day at school taking action to change the world in positive ways. Guests will leave with their own backpacks donated by Sierra Club Water Sentinels. Cheryl Bersaglia of Jefferson Co. Soil & Conservation district will be there with an interactive display that demonstrates "The Water Cycle." And we're also planning other great activities. (Stay tuned for more announcements!) Visit our website to view trailers for the kids program.
